1. Who We Are

Screen Translator is a Chrome browser extension developed and maintained independently. For privacy-related questions, contact us at support.screen.translator@gmail.com.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to provide our service:

3. What We Never Collect

• Your full screen or anything outside the region you select
• Your browsing history or visited URLs
• Passwords or authentication credentials
• Payment information (handled entirely by LemonSqueezy)
• Location data or GPS coordinates
• Mouse clicks, keystrokes, or user activity
• Any data from pages you visit without triggering the extension
• Google data beyond your basic profile (name, email, profile picture)

4. How We Use Your Data

• Screen region image: Sent to our OCR provider to extract text, then immediately discarded. Never stored or used for any other purpose.
• Device ID: Used only to count monthly free captures for users who are not signed in.
• IP address: Used only for rate limiting to prevent abuse of our service.
• Google Account data: Your Google account ID is used as your unique identifier to track usage and credit balance across devices. Your name and profile picture are displayed in the extension UI. Your email is used for customer support only. We do not use your Google account to access any other Google services or data.
• Usage count: Used to enforce free tier limits and deduct credits on paid plans.
• License / subscription status: Used to verify and activate PRO features.

5. Google OAuth & Sign-In

When you choose to sign in with Google, we use Google OAuth 2.0 to authenticate you. This process:

• Only requests access to your basic profile information (name, email address, and profile picture)
• Does not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, or any other Google services
• Does not allow us to act on your behalf on any Google platform
• Can be revoked at any time via your Google Account permissions page

Signing in with Google is optional. Free tier users may continue using the extension without signing in, subject to device-based usage limits.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to provide our functionality:

7. Data Retention

• Screen region images: Never stored — discarded immediately after OCR processing
• Device ID and request counts: Reset monthly, deleted upon request
• IP address: Reset monthly, deleted upon request
• Google account data and usage history: Retained while account is active, deleted within 30 days upon request
• PRO license / subscription status: Retained while subscription is active, deleted within 30 days of cancellation upon request

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties except:

• The third-party services listed above, solely to provide our service
• When required by law or to protect our legal rights

We will never sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of data we hold about you
• Delete: Request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time
• Correct: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Revoke Google access: Disconnect your Google account via Google Account permissions
• Opt out: Uninstall the extension to stop all data collection immediately

10. Children's Privacy

Screen Translator is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.

11. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data including:

• All data transmitted over HTTPS encryption
• JWT-based authentication on all protected backend endpoints
• Row Level Security (RLS) enabled on our database
• Rate limiting to prevent unauthorized access
• OAuth 2.0 industry-standard authentication — we never handle or store your Google password

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
